Position Type:
-Part-time (approximately 20 hours per month, six month minimum duration)

Position Summary:
The Cleanup Director is a part-time, unpaid volunteer position that supports the removal of trash from our environment through the facilitation of cleanup events. As a Cleanup Director you will work closely with GPI’s team to engage with community volunteers, and existing and new partner organizations; as well as working in remote locations such as isolated coastlines and underwater. This position is ideal for passionate environmentalists who want to commit a few hours per week to working with other nature lovers on the front lines of removing debris from our ecosystems.
Position Responsibilities:
-Attend cleanup events; supporting event setup, event facilitation, trash weighing, and trash disposal
-Ensure the safety of all participants
-Communicate with and lead volunteers through cleanup events
Position Requirements:
-A minimum of 18 years of age
-Fluent in the English language
-Access to reliable transportation
-Cell phone for communication
-Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
-Ability to work in rigorous terrain and unpredictable conditions including rocky coastlines, underwater, and cliffsides
-Ability to swim and snorkel
Ideal Candidate Qualities:
-Passionate about environmental preservation
-Willingness to learn, explore new ideas, strategies, and receive feedback
-Interested in learning about plastic pollution, commercial fishing, oceanic conservation, and GPI’s mission and strategy
-Hawaii resident
