Position Summary:

As a Core Volunteer, you will support our team in facilitating our cleanup events, engage with community volunteers while removing trash from our environment, and make an impact working closely with our team in remote locations such as isolated coastlines and underwater.

Position Responsibilities:

-Attend cleanup events; supporting event setup, event facilitation, trash weighing, and trash disposal

-Ensure the safety of all participants

-Communicate with and lead volunteers through cleanup events

Position Requirements:

-A minimum of 18 years of age

-Fluent in the English language

-Access to reliable transportation

-Cell phone for communication

-Ability to lift and move a minimum of 50 pounds

-Ability to work in rigorous terrain and unpredictable conditions including rocky coastlines, underwater, and cliffsides

Ideal Candidate Qualities:

-Passionate about environmental preservation

-Willingness to learn, explore new ideas, strategies, and receive feedback

-Interested in learning about plastic pollution, commercial fishing, oceanic conservation, and GPI’s mission and strategy

-Hawaii resident

-Ability to swim and snorkel
